My Story - Amy

Following on from October’s interview with James, in November’s ‘This Month’, we now have:

Amy’s Story

Barbara: Amy, you were included in James’ story, what is your take on it all?

Amy: I went to a C of E Church in Sheffield, my mum was a Christian, I can remember her doing flowers and me being in a Nativity.

B: so did you carry on through your teens?

Amy: no, my sister and I were involved in dancing and all the competitions that come with it. Mum was very supportive with that and took us all over the place. It takes up a lot of your time and most weekends were filled with competitions

.B: So you were a very good dancer?

Amy: Well it has always been my passion so eventually I went to work on a cruise ship.  After dance college.

B: Wow, well-travelled, interesting. Did you do any more with your dancing skills?

Amy: yes, my sister and I ran a dance school.

B: So how do you feel about involvement in Church?

Amy: like James, I can't imagine going back, the whole experience has changed our lives, for good of course.

B: So, you would recommend others to explore the Christian Faith for themselves?

Amy: Definitely, in a chaotic world it provides answers.Amy and James are co-hosting our current Alpha Course

It’s been good to read both James and Amy’s stories over the past couple of months.

Of course, the master story teller was Jesus, he shared stories with his disciples and also with large crowds of people, hungry to hear what he had to say.  His storytelling often took the form of Parables, stories such as ‘The Lost Sheep’ or ‘The Good Samaritan’ these were told to help us know how deeply God loves and cares for us and to help us to understand more of the kingdom of heaven. When Jesus speaks it’s about regular people just like you and me, he spoke about farmers, fishermen, shepherds, businessmen and women.

In the Lost Sheep Jesus talks about the shepherd and the hundred sheep, when one of those sheep wanders away the shepherd goes and searches until he finds it. The fact is every single one of us is important to God.  When Amy or James or you or me accepted Jesus as our saviour there was a party in heaven. How cool is that? God loves you more than you could ever imagine.  If you were the only person on earth, God would have sent his son Jesus to die for you so that he can be back in a loving and wholesome relationship with you.  So don’t keep your story to yourselves, share what God has and is doing for you however small or however big, it is important and it might be just what someone else needs to hear to start them on their own journey of faith.

So if you would like to share testimony of your faith journey, please have a word with Barbara.
